By making use of the Linksys Velop mesh Wi-Fi system, you can get flawless and high strength signal of your Wi-Fi at every corner of house. This blog post is related to identifying the nodes using Linksys app.
1. From a mobile device, click to open the Linksys app.
2. Go to the Linksys dashboard and follow on-screen instructions mentioned on the page.
3. Click on the ‘Menu’ icon.
4. Open ‘Velop administration’.
You will find the nodes starting appearing according to the location you selected during setup. For any other detail related to model number, Location, IP address, serial number or firmware version, click on ‘Node’. If you have changed the location, click to change it.
Note: The node which is configured as a router will showcase all the LAN and WAN IP addresses whereas other nodes will display the LAN address. The nodes can be managed through Linksys app and there is no need to open the web-interface page.
If you find other nodes not displaying in the Velop Admin section, you will have to add them one by one from Velop network section. For further instructions, click on ‘Velop node setup’ link. You will now find the nodes using the Linksys app.
Settings that need to be inspected when using managed or unmanaged switch
The Linksys Velop uses managed and unmanaged switches in which the former one doesn’t require any manual settings because the job of this switch is to pass the traffic. Whereas in the managed switches, the user needs to confirm some settings post setup of switch on the router.
Note: The placement of switch must be between the primary and secondary node.
For managed switches, you can refer to the below-mentioned settings:
STP/RSTP settings should be enabled.
BDPU handling status needs filtering or flooding.
Note: It can’t be denied that not all switches behave in the same manner.
If you find the above mentioned STP global settings doesn’t work for you, then you can enable STP on each port the nodes are connected. By default, you will find some STP off on the ports. Once the user sets both the configurations to global as required, the wired secondary node will automatically switch to wire.
Note: The information you get on the Linksys app or on the web-based setup page of your Velop devices connected to the switch may mismatch or incorrect. Even after having a successful connection, you will find a red light on every device which means the device is offline. For more information click at Velop Setup.
